Casa Mañana
Wildlife Adventures, not including the birds
A baby sloth hangs upside down in bushes across the lane from Casa Mañana. This 400-pound python resides in a serpentarium at El Castillo at foot of Arenal Volcano.
This Casa Mañana visitor is entranced by a smaller snake at the serpentarium. Capuchin monkeys stare back at visitors floating down the Rio Tenorio.
Coatis often cadge easy meals from tourist hands near Tabacon Hotsprings. Their health is suffering from the potato chip diet. Howler monkeys might be heard at any daylight hour, but most usually roar in the early morning. There are many groups of them at Lake Arenal.
This pretty gray fox resides at the animal rescue center Las Pumas near Canas, about 35 minutes from Casa Mañana. A guest captured a photo of this snake while on a river float trip. Snakes are sometimes seen on guided forest walks near Casa Mañana.
Looking for a handout, a coati (coatimundi) boldly approaches a human. An ocelot at Las Pumas rescue center awaits its 3 pm feeding of meat.
