Casa Mañana
Adventures on Costa Rica's Many Rivers and Streams
Casa Mañana guests enjoy a wildlife viewing float trip on the Rio Tenorio. Howler monkeys get an excellent view of passing boaters as they lounge on the branches.
Bird Island, a small island on the Rio Tempisque, off-limits to humans, harbors hundreds of birds, many flying overhead, though not visible here. A kingfisher, just one of many types of birds seen on float trips, gazes at the water in the Rio Bebedero.
Crocodiles up to 12 feet long - some longer - are common as are the smaller caimans. Costa Rican's especially colorful iguanas - up to 6 feet long - are a common sight along the rivers.
There's whitewater rafting on the Rio Tenorio higher up toward the dormant Tenorio Volcano. One of our guests photographed this macaw beside the Rio Tempisque or Rio Bebedero.
